ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE

A GREAT BOOK FOR MOTHER’S DAY

I bought this book in Target the other day.

All You Need is Love
Fifteen Journeys to Motherhood by Suzy Zail

As it gets close to Mother’s Day I tend to get a bit melancholy and miss my Mum
I may be 53 but every girl, even this old girl needs her Mum.
Being the ‘baby’ of the family I guess I was a little spoilt and close to my Mum.

It is now 15 years since she passed away.
Every year on her birthday and near Mother’s Day I usually buy myself a little something.
She was forever telling me to buy something for myself as I always put myself to the end
of the line and bought things for Max or the kids, hardly ever for myself.
So this is what I bought this year.
It is a great book.
All about different types of Mothers
A Mother in a Commune

A Disadvantaged Mother

A Grandmother being the Mother figure to her grandchildren

A Foster Mother

A Surrogate Mother

Mother’s with children with disabilities - Single Mother’s struggling to make ends meet
A Vision Impaired Mother - An Older Mother
Lesbian Mothers - A Mother that was a Donor Egg recipient
An Adoptive Mother - A Mother in prison
A Relinquishing Mother -A Mother of triplets
A Surrogate Mother - A Working Mother

Many Mother's with different stories to tell.

Any one out there looking for that little something for Mum or
to add to her gift, I am sure she would enjoy it.

To all you Mother’s out there look at your beautiful children no matter what age they are and be proud of yourself for creating these wonderful people.

Hi Alison,
Oh sorry to hear that you had such miserable weather in my all time fav place - Port Macquarie. We must have been so lucky to have nothing but the perfect sunny 27 every day for 2 weeks. Hope you and Max still had fun.

That book sounds lovely and I think as mums we are all guilty of putting our own needs last. Good on you for buying yourself a little gift. Hope it makes you feel closer to your mum.
Hugs,
Kerryanne

Dear Alison, your post brought tears to my eyes this morning....I, too, miss my mother so much. I am old...70 now, and my mom's been gone 20 years, this month.
I never thought about buying myself a gift....she, like your mom, was always telling me the same thing. So, it makes sense to go buy myself something that would make HER smile....and make me feel just a tiny bit less lonely for her.
Thanks for the inspiration....
hugs, bj

I like the idea of there being a lot of different kinds of mothers.. all good. One of my grandmother was a textile designer.. very fancy... the other was a nurse who loved sports.. they couldn't have been more different.. but I loved them both!

I too miss my mom. She's been gone for 21 years and it still seems like just yesterday. She always put herself last and worked so very hard. I do believe I will take up this tradition in honor of her. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Hugs,
Dena

Looks like a wonderful book...My Mom passed away 3 years ago at the age of 83. I am 54 now and still miss her so much. When she turned 83, I asked her what one piece of advice, if she could only give one, would she give to me. She said, "Never, ever let ANYONE talk you out of doing what you want to do." Great advice, I think.
Hugs,
Penny

Dear Alison,
My heart breaks thinking of you without your Mum. It scares me about myself for the future too. But still it's nice to know you could still hear her voice whispering to you. That is why you bought this book, which by the way looks like an inspiration.

Thank you for your honesty and thank you too for your kind comments and visits!

Sounds like an amazing book!
My Mom died when I was 32 and months later I was still picking the phone up to call her.
I was blessed to have her in my life as long as I did.
Bless you,

What a wonderful book. I must get that for myself. My mother would have loved this book, but my MIL WOULD NOT like it. She would be judging just about every mother in there. Sad, but true.
I feel the same way as you about my mom. Miss her so very much.

Hi Alison,
My mom always tells me the same thing! Even though I still have her with me, it's different because she is suffering from dementia, but my "mom" is still in there- just confused at times. I cherrish every moment with her. This little post here gave me quite a lump in my throat!

Alison I will be looking out for this book. I haven't lost my mother but she is in the UK and I live in Australia. Haven't seen her for over 15 years and miss her so much. I dread the time when I can longer pick up the phone to say hello how are you?
