LAST DAY OF WINTER

LAST DAY OF WINTER ON MY BEACH
Of course I went to the beach today. I made some soup and a sandwich for Max and I to take to the beach for lunch.
We had a ball. The tide was right in and we walked along the beach dodging the water. I wanted to take some photos for this weeks Waterside Wednesday. So come back for some more photos on Wednesday too.

The poor beach huts were getting swamped
TOMORROW IS SPRING

Just a pretty blossom ready for Spring

Love the colour of this one

My roses were pruned within an inch of their life.
The new leaves are starting to emerge.

Gorgeous white primulas still in flower

My Japanese maple is just starting to get its leaves.

I hardly ever see this camellia as it is down a sideof the house I hardly ever walk down.
Just look what I have been missing

Beautiful climbing Banksia Rose
Don't forget to come back Wednesday for Waterside Wednesday and see the fun we had at the beach today.

WATERSIDE WEDNESDAY AND MORE

WATERSIDE WEDNESDAY
Once again Barbara Jacksier is hosting Waterside Wednesday.
Go check it out
ROUGH WEATHER ON TUESDAY
These photos were taken on Tuesday.
It doesn't seem to matter what the weather is like I seem to go to the beach every day. It calms the mind and is a great place to clear the head.

The poor beach is taking a real beating on these days

Just look at the water splashing over the wall

Poor old beach huts

Where is that sand???
DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT
WHAT IS IN MY SHOP
If you want stripes of any color put on them just let me know and I can do it for you

SUNSETS

Sunsets are one of my favourite things
on the Mornington Peninsula
Murrays Lookout at Arthurs Seat is a favourite spot
and Mount Martha Beach is just a couple of minutes drive from home.

WATERSIDE WEDNESDAY

Barbara Jacksier is holding
I was looking for some beach theme
goodies to have at home and
decided to make my own.
Well really Max and I made it.
A cute yacht

It looks great on this table
I have decided to make a few
to sell on my website.
So come back tomorrow and I should have some listed
WINTER AT MOUNT MARTHA BEACH
Being the end of Winter we have had
some rough weather and the
poor beach is suffering for it.
Look at these poor star fish that were
washed up and on our beach on Monday

So much of our sand has been washed away as well
Looks a bit difficult to get into these beach huts now.
Not sure what will be done to fix it all up.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY FUN

FRIDAY
Friday was going to be a sunny day.
As we had the day free we thought we
would catch the ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff.
If you look at the map below we live near where it says
Mornington on the right hand side of the map.
We drove to Sorrento ,left the car there and got on the
ferry for the 40 minute trip across the bay to Queenscliff.

When we got to Queenscliff we were able to get off the ferry
once the cars had driven off.
We walked into Queenscliff and went for a wander.

Love the look of the Vue Grand Hotel
It apparently also has a great B & B and is a wedding venue
Click the link if you want to know more
I loved this 1888 Church.
It is now a restaurant
The door was very weatherbeaten

This 1868 wesley Church is now a book store

Wandering through the streets we saw homes in all
sorts of condition. This beauty was awaiting restoration

This spot was perfect for a morning snack break

We walked for ages and saw some beautiful old homes and gardens

Lots of trees in full bud just waiting for Spring 1st September

Time to put our feet up and enjoy the view while we had
a picnic lunch
We could have sat on this bench seat and had a
snooze in the warmth of the Winter sun

Don't you just love the arches on this building

We left Queenscliff on the 2pm ferry

At 2.40pm we reached Sorrento

Once we got off the ferry we went and had a Chai Tea in Sorrento

Next stop was Martha Cove so as we could have another walk.
Crazy, I know - as if we hadn't walked enough.
Over 3 hours of wandering through the streets
of Queenscliff should have been enough
There is a fabulous boardwalk at Martha Cove

The water was so still
So that was our Friday

SATURDAY
Another wonderful Winter's day saw us going to
watch our son Daniel play football for Dromana
Here is a photo Max took of Daniel today
He is the gorgeous one in the white shorts
My daughter Melanie brought her children
Lachlan and Chloe to watch Daniel play football
and my younger daughter Amy brought Riley to watch too
Don't you love the way they watched the game

There was a game of football going on behind them
but they had more fun playing with Riley's toys
in a lovely heap of dirt.

Hope your weekend is as much fun for you as
it has been so far for my three
grandchildren

WATERSIDE WEDNESDAY

WATERSIDE WEDNESDAY
Barbara Jacksier is holding Waterside Wednesday
Go on over to Barbara's blog and check it out
One of my all time favourite beach theme items
has to be sea glass

I love the look of all the coloured sea glass
in this glass lantern
It looks so fresh and cheerful
sitting on one of my entry tables

Love the colours you can see as you
look down into the top

Love looking into a flickering candle
especially when it is surrounded by seaglass
Don't you just love the colours of the glass

Even in daylight the seaglass looks pretty
with the candle light just shining through

So much pretty seaglass

At night I love the way the candles flicker through the seaglass
