BEACH CLOSED

First time I have seen this at my local beach - Mount Martha
The sign tells it all.
After a long time of losing sand on North Beach they are finally relocating the sand from the South Beach onto North Beach.
It will be wonderful to again be able to have lots of sand under my feet as I walk along the waters edge
They are also repairing storm damage and erosion on the cliff walls
Wednesday and Thursday we took Riley down to see the trucks.

He loved watching them being filled with sand.

Every little boys dream - a big sandpit!!

So that's what they're up to

I guess we (me at least) take the beach for granted and think it will always be there - I need to remember it is a living thing as well - so interesting how the sand moves so much!

Wow, I didn't know they just did that - relocate sand. Of course I live nowhere near a beach so who knew! My boys would have loved those trucks too. Have a great day xx

I'm glad they are repairing the beach... it is such a lovely one. I spent many lovely summers days with my kids down there.
Hope it is re-opened soon.

Boys of all ages just love those trucks don't they. All worth the effort if you get to enjoy more time on the beach. Have a great weekend.

Hi Alison, thanks for your visit I didn't realise I had been away for so long.... thanks to the *Crazy Woman* I feel like I have been to hell & back, am hoping she will leave me alone now. Our beaches up here are also eroding away what used to be a huge strip of sand when my eldest boys were young has now become next to nothing. Hope you have a great long weekend.. to me it is very special. Oh & I love your embroidery on the previous post.

It makes you wonder how severe the erosion is that caused the sand to go in the first place. I wonder what natural wetlands have been changed to cause the sand not to stay put, as in change the tidal patterns if you know what I mean. I always think its a bit sad that they have to denude one beach to save another (or maybe that is where the sand has drifted to??) I do hope it all turns out ok in the end. Do I sound like I'm on a soap box ;0)

I am happy to learn that the beach was closed due to new sand versus a spill.
