SHADES OF INSPIRATION

The colour for this weeks Shades of Inspiration hosted by Sara of Sadie Olive - Le Journal
is green.

Here is a cupboard that I keep some of my green glass wear in.

The top shelf has a jug and glasses set that belonged to my Grandmother.

Unfortunately the jug was cracked when we moved house so I can only use the glasses

The divided dish on the plate stand on the bottom shelf also belonged to my Grandmother

I try and use all of this glass wear as often as possible because I feel it is a bit of a waste to have it just sitting in the cupboard.

Alison I love your green glass collection! I too collect green depression glass, and I like to also use it as much as I can. I have some large green jars that I use in the bathroom to store cotton balls and soaps etc. How lovely you have some pieces from you grandmother there too.

Oh Alison, the green depression glass is just beautiful! I'm so glad to hear you use it. I used to do more of that and reading your post was a nice little friendly nudge to do it more...While they are "only dishes" it is amazing how dishes and other special pieces bring back memories of days gone by. I also found my eyes watering in reading that precious post on your grandbabies. Very, very touching.

Thanks for sharing!

I love green glass, and you should use it! I always say, "what is the point of having pretty things if you cant use them?" We should all enjoy our treasures as often as possible!

I absolutely love your green glass ware! Green happens to be my favorite color. I'm trying to talk my husband into a brighter green for the walls. It might be alittle too bright as he seems to think the walls will glow in the dark! Guess I better find a softer shade.

Alison, I love your green glassware but love the photos with your grandchildren in the previous post even more - how special are those photos?

Before you know it they will be all grown and those photos will be a reminder of how small they once were. Treasure your time with them.
Hugs,
Kerryanne

Your green glass is really really beautiful! I see similar glassware in antique shops from time time, and I have always wanted to purchase it (along with jadeite too!)

It looks like depression glass to me, I don't know why they named it that as it has the most vibrant green colour - very cheerful

Those are beautiful! I think grouping them together gives them such great presence and importance. A lot of times, people break up their collections, and each piece ends up getting lost in the mix. Love it!
