Brrrr… it was cold and foggy
This morning the first day of Winter greeted us with some fog.
This is what I saw from my front door
I love the white trunks of the young Silver Birch trees
My poor standard Iceberg Roses are starting to look yucky.
There are still plenty of flowers but the leaves are not looking the best. Not long and they will be severely cut back/pruned
The Nandina Domestica or Dwarf Bamboo has a beautiful red leaves
This poor little Camellia Sasanqua Fukuzutsumi bloom looks like it is trying to wrap itself up and stay warm
I love the misty drops left on the plants by the cool of the night
I can't wait for this Camellia Japonica to burst and show me its beautiful crimson blooms
Now that Winter is upon us my Japanese Maple has lost nearly all of its leaves and is showing us its beautiful red bones.

Your garden is still just beautiful, and I agree with you, I can't wait for mine to bloom too! at least one more time before I have to move out of my beautiful cottage. and I have to say not a fan of the cold, I'm sitting here at my PC and my feet are that cold I can't feel my toes, turn up the heat....lol. Thank -you for dropping by and your kind comments, and I also have to say I'm so glad I'm back I've missed talking to you and all the other lovely ladys. You have a lovely garden and the nandina domestica is one of my most favourite plants. I DO love getting up in the morning and seeing the fog all around, kind of makes you feel all cosy inside :-)

I have 2 birch trees in my front yard. Love them.
I hope your winter was like ours. I live in coastal southern california. We had little bits of moisture all winter long. No big storm just little sprinkles, usually at night. It made for a gorgeous spring. The wildflowers were amazing.

Beautiful garden pics Alison. We had heavy dew, but I didn't see any fog - maybe I wasn't up early enough!! It cleared to a lovely sunny day though. Perfect for the first day of Winter. Lovely to see some of your garden.

Wow - I can't believe it was so foggy on the first day of June! We've been lucky so far - usually June is very gloomy here, cold and rainy. But it's been OK so far this year (knock on wood). I enjoy your garden pics as well - my wife and I just spent the day at a public garden yesterday and it was so peaceful.

I don't mean to sound dumb, but I didn't even think of it being winter there. I looked at your blog the other day and thought I was looking at an old post.
My mom was really ill over the winter with flu's and stuff and had been offered an all expense paid trip to Australia in February. She almost didn't go, but she had to cancel the year before because of some heart problems so off she went. She said it was summer there and she felt so much better within a day or so.
I never traveled so I am naive to seasons and such around the world.
Your garden still looks pretty though even in its cold stage! Thanks for all of your nice messages. I caught a flu bug and have just been sleeping and being sick. I will be better tomorrow!!! Have a wonderful day Alison!!

It has been freezing cold here too!! YUKKY!!! but I must say I prefer the cold to the heat! You can always rug up when it's cold. lets face it when it's hot there's only so much you can take off!! LOL hope you have a FAB week sweetie!!

Dear Allison,
Thank you for always being faithful and publishing sweet comments in my blogs. I was thinking you could dry some of your roses(you probably already do this) Cut them in the afternoon when they are dry with no dew. Group them together with rubber bands(because they will contract as the rose drys) and hang upside down in a dry place. I do this with roses I receive and sometimes with my daughters pink roses in her yard.
They will dry and you can use them in potpourri or sachets mixed with lavender. Some of the fragrance will remain for awhile. Lots of things can be dried like this.

Love the look of the white trunks of the silver birch. We often get fog in our area too. I love Camelias, but somehow haven't planted any anywhere. Yours look fabulous!
