Is this the first time you have an Empty Nest Alison?, it happened to us once, not for long as Ellie decided to come back to the nest!

Hi Alison, boy I don't think I could ever imagine having an empty nest, but I am sure it is inevitable (although they may never ever leave as Mummy is far too good to them haha!). Hope you having a great day and thanks for tagging me!

I hear they keep coming back, so don't go turning the room into a spare craft room.

Here's what we found out about the "empty nest". (Katydiddy, stop reading this NOW). Once they leave your house they WANT to have meals with you, they actually LAUGH at your jokes and seem to go from being your beloved child to a beloved child who is now a great and amazing adult who flatters you by seeking your company.

It's all good and you can now have the best of both worlds. A great kid AND an extra room.

My eldest and I were only talking about that the other day...She is 19, and not ready to move for a while, thank god! I cant stand the thought of any of them leaving, but I guess it is inevitable!!!

Awwww...
I still have three children under the age of 11 in my house!!
*smile* I can't imagine what an "empty nest" feels like! But my inlaws and my parents are both empty nesters--except when I ask them to baby sit--so maybe very soon you will have the pitter patter of your grandchildren's little feet??

Awww... Are you sad? My oldes is 17 so he'll be out on his own pretty soon. I'm just not ready to think about it yet though. If your son is anything like most children, he'll be back home to grocery shop in a few days. =) Blessings...Polly

hi Alison - sorry about your empty nest, or is it a good thing? i'm glad you like my forest walk light box, it was quite fun to make! i just noticed that one of your favorite songs is "Yesterday" by the Beatles. That one and "Imagine" are my 2 favorites! they totally bring me back to my childhood.

Takes awhile to ajust to the empty nest, but eventually you do.

It must have been fun growing up with 3 other siblings.

They do come back. Our son moved back in. It's kinda nice but I was looking forward to just the two of us. Oh well. Glad you stopped by. Tonight, my son had to go out to pick his puupy up. Her poor little toes froze before she was back in. Sunrises are a favorite of mine too.

I have had an empty nest for quite some time. At first I would cry at the drop of a hat because I would think I would here one of the boys calling me. But I have to admit having the house to ourselves is very nice. When they come to visit it's crazy around here and you are ready for them to leave....then you cry all over again. ~ Smiles ~ Lynn

Hi Alison, thanks for your advice! That's the reason why I originally put him in that room - as he only sleeps in it. I am very keen to hear lots of comments!

Thanks for stopping by my site, and yes I couldn't just leave that chair there!

I too will be 'loosing' my daughter in June when she gets married. The empty nest is sort of bittersweet.

Just checking to see if you're OK in your empty nest...I must be a bit odd but I didn't mind my empty nest one little bit! Hope my kids don't read that comment. Thanks too for your comment on the watering cans, yes me too Alison a sucker for the roses!

Gail McCormack said...

Hi Alison, yes me too cooking dinner, no I'm not really in the mood. Lovely to have your grand kids for a sleep over, I'm not sure I'm ready for grandchildren yet, I guess it's not up to me! Enjoy your little treasures, they are lucky to have you

Hi Alison,
I dread an empty nest. I think I have a few years with one daughter only 17 and the other in college, but I do think about it occasionally and hope that when they leave it will be a time for me to focus on some things I want to learn and do for myself. Thanks for stopping by my blog:>)

Hi Alison! An empty nest? Just like us, since our daughter's wedding in November. Once you get used to the deafening quiet, I think you'll enjoy it! I am!

Too funny about NQR ~ I haven't seen that abbreviation before. I'll have to start using that!

Big Hugs,

Empty Nest is difficult. About a year ago I was having such a difficult time with figuring out what I would do with myself on that day. My daughter Sarah was already in college and Ashley is a Junior in High School, but very rarely here. That is when I started creating again, taking classes, and blogging. Nora Emphram says "Empty Nest is highly under-rated" I hope that she is right.

My 3rd child moved out Dec 30th. I have one more left and it will be a while before she leaves as she's just turning 16, however, it seems really empty in the house now. I keep inviting people to come and stay with us and telling them "we have extra rooms!" lol
Hugs to you!!
